Hey all,
As you all know, the last Saturday of the month is one day we all look forward to cos that means it's time for another one of our Blue Frog Retro nights! This evening though had an interesting beginning!
It all started off with a very talented guy named Sushant (with an insane Adam Lambert - kinda voice) who took to the stage before we did and well.... made things very tough for us from there on! But jokes apart, he was absolutely fantastic, singing a couple of Whitney songs as well as Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah and just wowing the crowd! This worked out well for us too cos we felt proud to have someone open a show for us.
We got onto stage and started off with a new song straight up which was 'Your body is a wonderland' by John Mayer, before moving onto 'Angels' by Robbie Williams and of course, 'Coming back to life' by Pink Floyd. From there on, as always, we picked it up by playing the all time favourite 'Dynamite', 'Boom Shakala' and few others.
The night was alot of fun for us because there were quite a few people celebrating their birthday there and hell if that wasn't enough, we had a friend who was celebrating her bachelorette party there! So everyone in there was in the mood to party and have a good time which worked our just right for us!
According to me, the surprise of the night was when we played 'Sex on Fire' by Kinds of Leon. We didn't expect to get much of a response from that considering it doesn't exactly fall under the "Retro" tag, but I think it's possible that that song was one of the best of the night! As soon as Gavin started the introductory riff on the guitar, we had the whole of Blue Frog screaming and of course that tempted me even more to get them involved through the song... and towards the end of the song, I pointed the mic to the audience and all I heard was a loud "YYYOOOOOUUUUUU.........YOUR SEX IS ON FIRE".... Wow none of us really expected that! But hey, no complaints! :)
Once again, we managed to pull in a crowd of just under 500 I was told, which is a good turn out, but let's hope it goes back to the 600 - 700 mark that everyone has got us used to!
I say this everytime, and I'll never stop, a BIG thank you to everyone who made it to the Frog on Saturday night (24th September)... we hope we made your Saturday night fun! For those of you'll who could not make it, we're there on the last Saturday of every month so see you soon!
