Birthdays, A Bachelorette Party, A superb opening act - Another awesome night at the Frog!

Hey all,

As you all know, the last Saturday of the month is one day we all look forward to cos that means it's time for another one of our Blue Frog Retro nights! This evening though had an interesting beginning!

It all started off with a very talented guy named Sushant (with an insane Adam Lambert - kinda voice) who took to the stage before we did and well.... made things very tough for us from there on! But jokes apart, he was absolutely fantastic, singing a couple of Whitney songs as well as Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah and just wowing the crowd! This worked out well for us too cos we felt proud to have someone open a show for us.

We got onto stage and started off with a new song straight up which was 'Your body is a wonderland' by John Mayer, before moving onto 'Angels' by Robbie Williams and of course, 'Coming back to life' by Pink Floyd. From there on, as always, we picked it up by playing the all time favourite 'Dynamite', 'Boom Shakala' and few others.

The night was alot of fun for us because there were quite a few people celebrating their birthday there and hell if that wasn't enough, we had a friend who was celebrating her bachelorette party there! So everyone in there was in the mood to party and have a good time which worked our just right for us!

According to me, the surprise of the night was when we played 'Sex on Fire' by Kinds of Leon. We didn't expect to get much of a response from that considering it doesn't exactly fall under the "Retro" tag, but I think it's possible that that song was one of the best of the night! As soon as Gavin started the introductory riff on the guitar, we had the whole of Blue Frog screaming and of course that tempted me even more to get them involved through the song... and towards the end of the song, I pointed the mic to the audience and all I heard was a loud "YYYOOOOOUUUUUU.........YOUR SEX IS ON FIRE".... Wow none of us really expected that! But hey, no complaints! :)

Once again, we managed to pull in a crowd of just under 500 I was told, which is a good turn out, but let's hope it goes back to the 600 - 700 mark that everyone has got us used to!

I say this everytime, and I'll never stop, a BIG thank you to everyone who made it to the Frog on Saturday night (24th September)... we hope we made your Saturday night fun! For those of you'll who could not make it, we're there on the last Saturday of every month so see you soon!

Another rainy night at Blue Frog!

27th August 2011 = The last Saturday of the month = Retro night by The Other People at Blue Frog = Crazy rains from morning to night (as always)!

What a day ... the rain started pelting down from early morning and just did not look like it was going to let up! Of course, we were worried once again that maybe people wouldn't turn up for the gig! The tables were sold out from 15 days before the gig as per what I was told, which was great news... However, the pouring rains could always mess plans up!

At about 10 p.m., we glanced outside and saw that the bar and tables were starting to fill up. In the past, whenever we've had crazy rains or even had the lights go out, thankfully (touch wood), we always manage to keep pulling our crowds in! As it got closer to show time, we got more confident that the people would come in, and come in they did!

A good crowd of about 400 people came in as the show started and we showed our appreciation to everyone who came in by putting up one hell of a show!

As always, we started off nice and easy with a few mellow songs to warm up and warm the crowd up as well, starting with a piano and acoustic guitar version of a song by Bruno Mars called 'Just the way you are'. Our first big song for the night followed soon after which was Pink Floyd's 'Coming back to life' and from there on the show just took off!

We got an absolutely fantastic vocal response from the crowd right through the show especially in songs like '500 Miles' by The Proclaimers, 'You're the voice' by John Farnham and of course the oh-so-famous 'Dynamite' by Taio Cruz!

We decided to throw in some new songs this time which included the Baywatch theme song 'I'll be ready', 'Lazarus' by Porcupine Tree, 'You're the voice' by John Farnham and 'Down' by Jay Sean.

The night included ALOT of singing, dancing, screaming, energy, good vibes & a super performance by all of us in the band! The show went on for about 2 hours 10 minutes, following which we did an encore of Jay Sean's 'Down' which was started solo on the piano and vocals by Garth and soon after he was joined by Sam with some mesmerizing harmonies! This was our last song for the night ... it picked up and people absolutely loved it!

Another fantastic show at The Frog, and another fantastic response. Thank you to everyone who braved the rain and came out to watch us .... We appreciate every single one of you being there and hope you'll keep coming back!

In case you'll are wondering what this attached picture is all about, it's a super image of my new white and gold Adidas shoes taken by Kelvin Wilson while I was on stage! Just something a little different! Thanks for the picture! :)

Until next time..... Z - Uit!
